Livingstone, Zambia hosted the 67th Local Government Association annual general meeting at which a number of milestones were recorded including signing of MOUs with Local Government Associations of sister Countries such as Botswana,Namibia and Zimbabwe. For NAD Zambia another milestone was the articulation of disability inclusion issues by some Mayors who have been supportive of the CBID networks. Kasama Mayor from Northern province made a submission in the opening plenary during the Executive Directors report, imploring other districts to heighten disability inclusion initiatives. She gave a case of her own district which is doing everything possible to ensure that PWDs fully participate and benefit from development programmes on an equal basis with others.
Toward the end of the LGAZ meeting, a dinner was organized where a few NAD staff/consultant met with 6 Mayors to share experiences on CBID. This event was informal but informative, all the Mayors shared their experiences of their current work and future aspirations for disability inclusion.
A Mayors CBID WhatsApp group has since been formed starting with the 6 mayors who attended the dinner.
