A total of eighteen (18) Ward Councillors and three (3) Ward Development Committee (WDC) representatives drawn from all the twenty-one (21) wards in Chongwe District attended a three-day basic training in Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) held from 9-11 March 2022 in Chongwe.

The training addressed various topics including Introduction to CBR/CBID, Understanding disability, barriers to participation, mainstreaming disability, accessibility, gender and disability, Advocacy, Community Mobilisation as well as Stakeholder mapping.

At the close of the training, participants pledged to do more for disability and inclusion, they confessed that they did not have sufficient knowledge on such matters, as a result, they were not inclusive enough in their work as civic leaders. It is hoped that with civic leaders receiving this important training, Chongwe will have an added number of CBID champions who will be expected to contribute to effecting social change on matters of disability and inclusion in Chongwe in particular and Zambia in general.
