M’kango Golf View Hotel was a hive of activity as CBID Coordinators drawn from all the 14 CBID Networks across the country converged for a national CBID Coordinators meeting held from 18-19 November 2021. The meeting provided a platform for experience sharing, learning and planning in order to enhance implementation and coordination of CBID work in provinces in particular and the whole nation in general.
To make the meeting structured and focussed ,the schedule was segmented into three main thematic areas namely, sharing of progress, coordination and planning for 2022 and beyond. District reports discussed progress of activities in relation to achievements and challenges. There were very interesting and inspiring reports from various districts that clearly motivated participants to do more than they were currently doing.
“The workshop was very educative and interesting. As Kasama district, we have learnt a lot from the reports presented by other districts such as Kitwe, Senanga, Nakonde and Livingstone. Let’s keep the fire burning” remarked one of the Coordinators from Northern Province Zambia.
In relation to coordination, the networks agreed to work more together ,by inspiring one another, continue to promote learning and sharing ,exploit opportunities for coordinating with other existing district and provincial development structures. This was critical for mobilising efforts and resources apart from ensuring inclusion of persons with disabilities in mainstream development programmes.
The meeting concluded with action plans for 1-3 year period, which will be further broken down in to quarterly plans as district coordinators meet their members in their respective districts/provinces.
